Long Xuyen City is a political, economic and cultural center of An Giang province, having a geographic and economic position which is especially important for An Giang province and Mekong Delta provinces.
Chau Phu district has a natural area of 45,000 ha, located between Long Xuyen City and Chau Doc on 91 National Highway. The population is 252,000, with abundant labor force.
PART I: INTRODUCTION ON AGRICULTURE SECTOR OF AN GIANG PROVINCE I. Position of agriculture sector - Being a province located in the Mekong River Delta with substantial source of fresh water which is favorable for agricultural development, rice output of An Giang is over 4 million tons, ranking first in the country. The total agricultural production area of the Province is over 250 thousand ha, accounting for 70% of the province’s natural area. - The agriculture sector makes up 31% in the Province’s economic structure. Of which, the husbandry sub-sector accounts for 81.3%, the cultivation represents 6.4% and the agricultural service sector occupies 12.3%.
