Meeting to meet Japanese businesses for provinces of mekong delta area in Can Tho city
On the occasion of 45 years anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relation between Vietnam and Japan (1973 – 2018). Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with The People’s Committee of Can Tho city cooperated with The Japanese Embassy in Viet Nam held “Meeting to meet Japanese businesses for provinces of mekong delta area” in Can Tho city on April 18th, 2018.

There were about 650 delegates, including 170 Japanese delegates attended the meeting. The meeting was warmly welcomed by Mr. Truong Tan Sang, Former Politburo Member, Former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and representatives of some central ministries and branches, along with leaders of the People's Committees of 13 locals in the mekong delta.

On the Japanese side, there were the attendance of Mr. Umeda Kunio - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Vietnam. Mr. Kawaue Junichi - Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City and representatives of Japanese businesses associations. The agencies of diplomacy, economy, trade, development cooperation, education and Japanese businesses in Vietnam.

On the An Giang province side, there were the attentdance of Mr. Le Van Nung – Permanent deputy chairman of the people’s committee of An Giang province. Ms. Dinh Thi Viet Huynh - District Party secretary of Chau Thanh district. Mr. Phan Van Cuong – Chairman of the people’s committee of Chau Thanh district and leaders of departments.

Purpose of the meeting was promote investment cooperation of mekong delta region with Japanese partners, focus on development cooperation in the fields such as: transport, health, education and training, locals cooperation in the field of culture, tourism and labor. Economic cooperation in agriculture (agricultural production, agricultural products processing, hi-tech agricultural products) ... in addition, there were activities on the sidelines of the meeting: visited to tourist sites; surveyed industrial parks, the projects are being called for investment, Japanese companies are operating in Can Tho city.

Especially, the cooperation signing ceremony between An Giang Biotechnology Center and 02 Japanese companies (Dainasa Engineering Company and  Hagihara Company) was held at the meeting. Beside, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam signed with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan on the field of an aviation. Cooperation signing between Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association in Can Tho City and Sakai Friendship Association.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized An Giang province to have a private meeting with the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City to discuss more about the potentials and strengths as well as the projects that the province is calling for investment through the support of the Consulate General of Japan.
